Double Claw
Eight claws, arranged as four pairs, take the stone at its corners. Each pair grips a single corner rather than pinching a facet edge, so the hold is wide where a cushion is strongest and the girdle stays clear between them.
The shank runs plain and unbroken to the head. Nothing else is asked of the metal: the design exists to leave a large stone as exposed as it can safely be.
