Half Bezel
Metal holds the stone at its head and toe only. Both sides of the girdle are left completely open, so light enters from the flanks and the colour reads through rather than off the surface.
The compromise setting: most of a bezel's protection at the two points that take knocks, none of its shading where colour is decided.
