Sphene is Greek for a wedge, named after the flattened, sharp-edged crystals it grows as. This one is Sri Lankan and moves between lime green and a golden chartreuse as it turns, with coloured flashes breaking out of both. Watch the back facets through the table too: sphene doubles them so strongly that a loupe finds every edge twice.
